BOC seizes P3-M lauan lumber

MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Customs seized yesterday P3 million worth of smuggled lumber shipped from Davao to the Manila International Container Port (MICP) last month.
BOC Commissioner Rufino Biazon said the shipment of lauan, also known as Philippine mahogany, was placed in eight shipping containers and misdeclared as plastic scrap, fresh banana, cacao beans, yellow cornstarch, scrap metal, copra cake, banana chips, and scrap cartons.
