MANILA, Philippines - A court has allowed a woman who killed her husband in a mall to undergo another checkup at the National Center Mental Health (NCMH) tomorrow to assess if she can stand trial.
Judge Bayani Vargas of the Regional Trial Court Branch 219 has granted the request of female dormitory warden Superintendent Milet Batac to bring Shella Macapugay to the facility for a followup checkup, as prescribed by her attending doctor.
Macapugay, 25, is facing parricide and murder charges for shooting her husband, Abel, in a mall in Quezon City last Sept. 13. She also killed security guard Ricardo Inamac III, who tried to stop her from killing herself after shooting her husband.
Macapugay was first brought to the NCMH on Nov. 16 after she complained that she had been hearing voices, particularly that of her dead husband’s. Her physician, Dr. Diana Joy Dizon, prescribed her medicines and told her to come back tomorrow. The doctor has yet to submit to the court her findings from the first checkup.
