MANILA, Philippines - Seven vehicles were recovered by combined operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), Highway Patrol Group (HPG) and the Macabebe police Monday night in a warehouse in Pampanga, following the arrest of an alleged carjacker.
QCPD director Chief Superintendent George Regis said two Honda City, a Mitsubishi Adventure, a Ford Escape, a Toyota Avanza, a Toyota Vios, and a Toyota Innova were recovered in a rented house in Macabebe town occupied by a certain Roel Punzalan, in follow-up operations after the arrest of Ricardo Torres.
“He (Torres) has been identified as the alias “Dingdong,” who is among those part of the so-called “Edang Maglalang” (carjack) gang,” Superintendent Ferdinand Villanueva, head of the QCPD’s anti-carnapping unit, said in an interview.
Villanueva said a couple had claimed ownership of one of the recovered Honda City, alleged to be stolen while parked in Barangay Bahay Toro on Sunday. He said Punzalan was not able to present any document supporting his claim that he is into used car business.
