Barrameda seeks transfer of sister's murder case hearing

MANILA, Philippines - Actress Rochelle Barrameda is set to file an appeal for the transfer of the hearing of her sister’s murder case from Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City to the Malabon-Navotas Hall of Justice.

Barrameda said she is “not satisfied” with the once every three months hearing at Camp Bagong Diwa, unlike at the Malabon-Navotas hall of justice “where we have marathon hearings.”

She said her camp will just wait for their lone witness Manuel Montero to finish his testimony before filing the appropriate appeal.

The case was last heard in Camp Bagong Diwa on Tuesday — three months since the July trial. It will resume again on Dec. 19.

Ruby Rose went missing in 2007. Her body was later found inside a cemented steel box, which was poached off Navotas waters through the help of Montero in June 2009.

Ruby Rose was abducted by Lennard Descalso, Eric Fernandez and Roberto Ponce in Las Piñas City, Montero said in the charge sheet filed by the prosecution. The suspects brought Ruby Rose to the BSJ Fishing Co. compound in Navotas City where she was allegedly killed on orders of her estranged husband’s father Manuel Jr. and uncle Lope.

According to Montero, Descalso, whom he identified at last Tuesday’s hearing as Ruby Rose’s killer, strangled the victim before the other henchmen placed her body inside a steel drum, cemented it, and threw it on the waters.
