MANILA, Philippines - Two suspected robbers were killed in a shootout with an intelligence officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) who pursued them after they robbed a convenience store in Quezon City Monday night.
Two civilians identified as Jafit Caranyagan, 25, a production worker of Barangay Holy Spirit in Quezon City and Wilson Taladhay, 35, a painting shop worker of West Fairview, were also hurt in the incident.
Senior Police Officer 3 Jun Mortel of the Quezon City Police District – Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU) said the incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. at a Mini Stop branch along Don Antonio Street in Barangay Holy Spirit.
Mortel said the suspects took P4,182 cash from the store’s cash drawer, cellular phones and P14,6000 in cash from the crew and customers of the store, including Ernesto Boy Bantig, who turned out to be an officer of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP).
Police are hunting the three other cohorts of the suspects who managed to escape.
