MANILA, Philippines - A 24-year-old construction worker was killed when he tried to stop his girlfriend from stabbing herself in Muntinlupa City at past midnight yesterday.
Jacky Cheng was reportedly drunk while arguing with girlfriend Dona Grace Ladislao in the Barangay Cupang when the incident took place.
Chief Inspector Michael David said Cheng wanted to leave their house, and Ladislao reportedly threatened to stab herself to stop her boyfriend from leving.
Cheng allegedly tried to grab the kitchen knife from Ladislao. During their struggle, David said, the victim was able to get hold of the knife but accidentally hit his neck.
“But this is the statement of the girlfriend,” David said over the phone. The STAR tried to interview Ladislao but she begged off.
Ladislao was arrested and will be charged with homicide, David said.
