MANILA, Philippines - An official of a security agency was killed by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City yesterday morning.
Police Officer 1 Alvin Quisumbing identified the victim as Abelardo Manangan, 52, operations manager of the Steel Hawk Security Agency and a retired member of the Philippine Army, died on the spot from several gunshot wounds.
The victim’s widow, Jennifer, said she and her husband went to the bakery at around 6 a.m. While she was buying bread, she heard shots behind her. When she turned around, she saw her husband lying on the ground and two men taking turns shooting him with 9mm and .45 caliber pistols.
She said his killers wore black bonnets and green t-shirts and fled on a motorcycle with unknown plates. Quisumbing said they are investigating the motive behind the killing.
Police records show this is the sixth “drive-by” shooting this month, but Chief Inspector Rodelio Marcelo said these incidents do not seem to be related.
