Gunman in Teaño carjacking has history of killing victims

MANILA, Philippines - The alleged gunman in the carjacking that led to the death of government employee Teresita Teaño tends to kill his victims, police said Friday.

“He only posted bail following his most recent arrest,” Quezon City Police District (QCPD) deputy director Senior Superintendent Arrazad Subung said in an interview. “He is notorious as a gunman who killed victims of past carjacking cases.”

Subung said the alleged gunman is a member of a carjacking group but has since joined another carjack gang, but refused to name him pending the suspect’s arrest.

Subung heads a task force created by QCPD director Chief Superintendent George Regis to look into the carjacking of Teaño’s Hyundai Accent and her killing in Barangay Kamuning on June 15.

Regis earlier said they are preparing charges of car theft with homicide against the alleged gunman, who has been identified by a witness.

Teaño’s brand new sedan had only been with the victim for five days when it was carjacked. The stolen vehicle did not even have license plates yet and only bore a conduction sticker.

Not contented with shooting Teaño, the carjackers ran over the victim with her own car as they fled.
