Manila, Philippines - Two people were killed when an hour-long fire hit an old building in the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) medium security camp in Muntinlupa City yesterday afternoon.
Chief Inspector Roderick Aguto, city fire marshall, said the “totally burned” bodies were found separately in the dormitories of the camp’s Building 5. They have yet to establish the identities of the victims.
Aguto said the fire of still unknown origin broke out at about past 4 p.m. It reached first alarm before it was placed under control at 5:36 p.m.
He said the incident highlights the risk for the camp’ 926 inmates but the NBP’s security measures are in place.
