Drug gang eyed in village chief's murder
Manila, Philippines - Pasay City police investigators are looking at members of drug syndicates as the ones who may have killed Barangay 185 chairman Rolando Tambangan on April 9, an official said yesterday.
Chief Inspector Raymund Liguden, who heads the city’s anti-drug task force, said investigators found new leads on Tambangan’s killers. The barangay chairman was having coffee in his house along Higgins street when two gunmen, wearing bonnets, barged in and shot him.
Tambangan helped law enforcers track down members of drug syndicates in his barangay. He was murdered after city police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency personnel launched a series of raids in which alleged drug gang leaders were arrested.
