MANILA, Philippines –  Manila police officers responded to two bomb threats less than two hours apart before noon yesterday.

Police said a man named “Choi” called up the Manila Police District (MPD) detachment in Intramuros at around 7:50 a.m., claiming he belongs to a group of extremists and they planted explosives on the third and seventh floors of the SNL building along Roxas Boulevard.

Senior Police Officer 2 Ernesto Andres told reporters that the recipient of the call and the detachment’s desk officer reported the call to the Ermita police station and the MPD headquarters.

Police bomb experts searched the building, but no explosives were found.

At around 9:35 a.m., the MPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics unit received a call that a bomb was set to explode at the 33rd floor of the 39-story Manila Executive Regency building on Jorge Bocobo street in Ermita.

Bomb expects recovered a red paper bag containing pieces of wire, but no explosives, at the building’s electrical room.
