MANILA, Philippines - A passenger was barred from boarding a Negros Navigation ship yesterday morning after a gun was found concealed in his can of biscuits at the North Harbor in Manila, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
PCG spokesman Lt. Comdr. Arman Balilo said the passenger was identified as Nitro Noel, who was bound for Bacolod on board M/V Saint Peter de Apostle.
Initial reports state that a .38 caliber revolver was detected when Noel’s belongings passed through the shipping firm’s x-ray machine.
“Noel was apprehended by the security guards and was being interrogated by the Philippine Ports Authority. He would be turned over to the Manila Police District for proper disposition,” Balilo said.
