MANILA, Philippines – A suspected carjacker was killed and another wounded in a shootout with police in Quezon City at past noon yesterday.
A third carjack suspect was reportedly caught and is in the custody of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) Police Region 3, STAR sources said.
The suspects’ getaway vehicle, a green Pajero with no plates, crashed into a taxi during the chase. Police said the shootout started when the suspects were boxed in by pursuing lawmen at the corner of Road 3 and Alley 1 in Project 6 at around 12:23 p.m.
Quezon City anti-carjacking police officials said the operation was an initiative of HPG Region 3, led by a “Chief Inspector Nuñez,” who coordinated with them.
Traffic was snarled for hours after the encounter.
