MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has recently banned a Belgian national from entering the country for allegedly beating up his Filipina wife and their newborn baby.
BI Commissioner Marcelino Libanan said the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) requested the ban upon receiving reports from the Philippine embassy in Brussels that Luc de Nocker’s wife has filed a complaint against him.
According to the report, the woman sought the embassy’s help after she and her baby were hospitalized due to the beating allegedly inflicted by Nocker last April 2. She said she was repeatedly beaten and had to undergo surgery to repair her shoulder. Belgian authorities later arrested Nocker.
Libanan said the DFA made the request even if Nocker is already in police custody to ensure that he would no longer be allowed to re-enter the Philippines.
Ambassador to Belgium Enrique Manalo said Nocker should be blacklisted due to his “violent tendencies and proclivity to physically abuse not only his wife but also his newborn child.”
There is also a possibility that the Belgian national might try to marry another unsuspecting Filipina if his marriage was dissolved.
