Jobseekers urged to register online

- Mayen Jaymalin -

MANILA, Philippines - New graduates and other jobseekers may now register online for the Labor Day mega jobs fair and have better chance of getting a job soon.

Labor Secretary Marianito Roque said the government has made it easier for jobseekers to look for jobs and opened its online registration to enable jobseekers to file their applications without leaving their homes.

Roque said the Department of Labor and Employment’s Bureau of Local Employment has opened on line pre-registration through its job-matching facility, the website of Phil-JobNet, to entertain the registration of applicants who may wish to attend the Job and Livelihood Fairs on May 1. He said that jobseekers with matching jobs that will suit their qualifications have a better chance of being employed as processing of application documents has been made a lot easier and simpler.

“Applicants will just have to visit the web site www.phil-job.net and there they will see the guide on the registration procedures,” he said.

On Labor Day, Roque said, those who have registered on line will have to go to the SMX Convention Center at Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City and to Halls 1 and 2 of the Megatrade Hall of SM Megamall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m..

Applicants will no longer have to fill out forms and wait for the long queues as they will be given identification cards (ID) that will serve as their passes upon entering the Job Fair area.

According to Roque, employers will have time to look for their skills requirements as the applicant’s account will now be available for them to preview and preselect upon the former’s registration.

Ther are 13 SM malls in the nation that will hold simultaneous job and livelihood fair.
