P10-billion shabu seized in Taguig raid

- Jose Rodel Clapano -

MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) confiscated approximately P10 billion worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) and equipment during a raid on a warehouse in Taguig City yesterday.

In an interview with The STAR, NCRPO chief Director Roberto Rosales said the drug haul, the biggest so far made by the police – was the result of two and a half months’ surveillance conducted by the NCRPO’s regional anti-illegal drug division.

Rosales said two suspects – Chinese national Gou Fu and William Alterejos – were arrested during the raid on 5 Carlo Drive in Bagumbayan.

He said one of his men posed as a buyer and police officers arrested the suspects after they received the marked money.

“They are trying to make it appear that they could not speak any other language except Chinese. Gou Fu was pointing to Alterejos as the alleged owner of the warehouse. We are not really sure if he is indeed the owner of the warehouse,” Rosales said.

He also said Alterejos did not issue any statement during the interrogation.

Rosales said the two suspects were already subjected to inquest proceedings for alleged drug pushing.

“We will file more charges should it be proven that Alterejos owned the warehouse. I cannot reveal the amount of money used for the buy-bust, but it is substantial,” he said.
