Manila policemen call for investigation into alleged fund misuse of association
MANILA, Philippines - Manila policemen have voiced their concern over the alleged misuse of their funds by officers of their organization and are calling for the immediate investigation into the allegation.
Members of the 10,000-strong Manila’s Finest Brotherhood Association, Inc. said they are kept in the dark where their monthly contributions of P400 are going. “We have been asking the leadership of the MFBAI to show us the income statement of the organization for transparency, but so far they have not posted anything except to say that the association funds are intact,” lamented the members.
Among the concerns of the policemen-members are the reported P2,000 budget per month for cell phone load of the organization president, the P500 to P1,000 budget per meeting of the officers and the P3,000 food allowance per meeting of the board of directors.
The members said despite more than two-year operation of the association’s cooperative store, they have not received any cash dividend from its profits.
They also bewail the alleged P100,000 outlay for Christmas gifts to members, saying what they have noticed is that the gifts given could only amount to P50,000.
The members also alleged that the association officers also received P300,000 from MPD director Chief Superintendent Rodolfo Magtibay and P500,000 from a donor for the maintenance of the fitness gym, but they have observed that the facilities and gadgets used are of second-hand quality.
“Surely there are more anomalous transactions entered by the present officers, and unless there is an honest-to-goodness investigation our funds will be dissipated,” the members said.
The members also called on their colleagues to reject the present officers in the elections on March 29 so that proper investigation could be initiated.
MFBAI spokesperson SPO2 Virgo Villareal said the allegations are purely politically motivated, as he called on the members to see the association’s book of accounts at their office.
