Motorcyclist hit by 2 dump trucks

MANILA, Philippines - A man driving a motorcycle on his way home to Caloocan City was killed after he was hit in succession by two dump trucks along Quirino Highway in Quezon City at past midnight yesterday.

Senior Inspector Robert Diaz said Jose Fulgosino was riding a Honda Bravo (1465-NF) registered to Benigno Boco when the accident happened at around 1:30 a.m.

Dump truck drivers Celso Potes, 43, and Nolito Oco, 41, surrendered to authorities.

SPO2 Ronquillo Maano, traffic investigator, said Fulgosino was traveling northbound along Quirino Highway while the dump truck drivers traveled on the opposite lane

Potes, trying to overtake a vehicle in front of him, swerved to the opposite lane. Fulgosino slammed head-on into the truck, was thrown into the air and landed in the path of the second dump truck, driven by Oco.

Fulgosino was run over by the second dump truck’s left rear wheels.

A rescue team on an ambulance from the Quezon City hall arrived and team leader Ricardo Amin declared the victim dead on the spot.

Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide are being readied against Potes and Oco.   – Jerry Botial
