MANILA, Philippines - A man was crushed to death after the tricycle he was riding slammed into a taxi in Caloocan City before dawn yesterday.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Jude Santos said tricycle passenger Rustom Martinez died on the spot.
Tricycle driver Ronald Antoque and Bryle Oranio, 20, who was riding piggyback behind Antoque, were declared to be in critical condition.
Ken-ken taxi driver Reynaldo Quizana, 33, and passengers Marife Arro, 40; Maria Mylene Arro, 44; Noiram Chill Carlos, 2, all of Leticia Homes, Maligaya Park, Novaliches, Quezon City, sustained bruises and minor cuts. They were released after treatment at the MCU Hospital.
Police Officer 3 Ferdinand Manapat said the accident happened at around 5:40 a.m. yesterday at the corner of Boni Serrano and 10th Avenues.
Passengers said the tricycle was traveling at breakneck speed along 10th Avenue when it rammed the taxi, which was on its way to EDSA. – Jerry Botial
