PDEA seizes P.2-million ecstasy tablets

MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives announced yesterday the arrest of another suspected ecstasy dealer in an entrapment operation in Quezon City.

Audie Lawrence Co, 30, a resident of Tierra Bella Homes in Tandang Sora, Quezon City, allegedly sold 4,000 of the “party pills,” with a street value of P200,000, to undercover agents in the vicinity of a bar at the corner of Timog and Tomas Morato Avenus at around 2 p.m. Saturday.

PDEA said 100 more ecstasy tablets were also found in Co’s possession.

In a report to PDEA director general Dionisio Santiago, agents said criminal charges have been filed against Co for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Co’s arrest happened less than 12 hours after PDEA agents figured in a shootout that resulted in the death of Canadian drug suspect Antonio Kcomt, who was reportedly a major distributor of ecstasy pills in Metro Manila.       – Michael Punongbayan
