Chinese man caught with P2.2-million shabu
MANILA, Philippines - Police officers and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents announced yesterday the arrest of a Chinese national who was caught in a drug bust with P2.2 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) in Quezon City Thursday.
Xu Fucong of Binondo, Manila was nabbed at the parking lot of a supermarket along E. Rodriguez Avenue after receiving 33 bundles of marked money for half a kilo of shabu.
PDEA said Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Force of the Philippine National Police police officers also confiscated a silver Honda Civic, a black clutch bag containing three cellular phones, a Banco de Oro bank book, an Equitable-PCI blank check, a driver’s license, and money from Xu.
The items were inventoried at the parking lot in the presence of Quezon City Prosecutor Donald Lee, a barangay official, and members of the media.
PDEA said Xu, a 40-year-old native of Fujien, China, has been charged for selling illegal drugs.
PDEA said they are coordinating with the agency’s foreign counterparts to establish Xu’s possible link to transnational drug syndicates operating in the country.
