A delivery boy was arrested for unlawfully carrying a gun in his neighborhood in Malabon yesterday.
Inspector Greg Catacutan identified the suspect as Jolly Aragon, 33, a native of Balud, Masbate and resident of Letre, Tonsuya.
PO2 Rommel Habig said Aragon was arrested by PO3 Percival Baldemoro and PO1 Agner Talingdan while they were on routine patrol.
The operatives were riding a motorcycle when they chanced upon Aragon loitering near the Pescadores Restaurant along Letre Road. The suspect was wearing a white sleeveless shirt and shorts with what looked like a short firearm tucked into his waistband.
The police officers accosted Aragon and found a .45 caliber pistol and a loaded magazine in his possession. Aragon failed to present proof of ownership and a permit to carry the gun and was subsequently arrested.
Aragon was charged with violating Republic Act 8294, the country’s gun law. Assistant City Prosecutor Rennet Evangelista recommended a bail bond of P80,000 for Aragon’s temporary liberty. – Jerry Botial
