Four armed robbers on board two motorcycles aborted a robbery attempt when they failed to stop a car equipped with bulletproof windows, that was transporting P670,000 before noon last Thursday in Caloocan City.
Senior Police Officer 3 Edgardo Esguerra, Caloocan City police Sub-station I investigator, said the red Chevrolet Suburban, owned by the MGE taxi firm, was hit with .45 caliber bullets at least eight times but the bullets were repelled by the bullet-resistant car windows.
“Two bullets hit the driver’s side window and at least six more hit the right side of the vehicle but none penetrated,” Esguerra told The STAR.
The suspects ambushed the Chevrolet Suburban, driven by MGE cashier Salvador Florano, 38, with two other employees, Carlito Duenas, also a cashier and the firm’s assistant accountant Jimmy Gellegos, along 12th Avenue at around 10:45 a.m. – Pete Laude
