The alleged leader of a notorious robbery gang reportedly responsible for a series of heists in Sta. Cruz, Manila ordered the killing of one of the gang’s members, according to the police.
Wilson Sangalang, 20, reportedly ordered that Ariston Obosa, 19, be killed last Oct. 1 for failing to remit his loot, according to Sta. Cruz police station chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula. Obosa’s body was discovered in a Sta. Cruz alley with multiple stab wounds.
Sapitula said Sangalang and suspected gangmen Richard de la Cruz, 21, and Juin Datu, 20, admitted their part in executing Obosa. All three were arrested in follow-up operations.
The Sangalang Gang was on the police’s order of battle following intelligence reports that the group was mainly responsible for at least six high-profile heists involving more than P400,000 worth of loot, Sapitula said.
Six counts of robbery-holdup have been filed against the three suspects, while the homicide section of the Manila Police District will file a separate case of murder for the killing of Obosa. – Nestor Etolle
