The Manila Prosecutor’s Office has filed criminal charges before the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) against two men who allegedly went on a shooting rampage, killing a seven-year-old boy and injuring two men, during a Christmas party last year.
Assistant City Prosecutor Lea Llavore has filed charges of murder, attempted murder, and frustrated homicide against Eduardo Baldisomo, 30; and Edmundo Salvador, both residents of Moriones, Tondo, Manila.
The two men were charged for the death of Jeric Pineda, a Grade 1 student.
They were also charged for the injuries sustained by Alfreo Abac, 47; and Jose Mario dela Cruz, 37.
According to police reports, residents of Kasipagan street were holding a Christmas party on Dec. 22, 2007 when the men who were drinking invited Baldisomo to join the celebration.
Baldisomo, after a few rounds of drinks, pulled out a gun and fired at the revelers for no apparent reason. Abac was standing beside Pineda, who was singing Christmas carols, when the boy suddenly slumped on his arm.
Abac felt a burning sensation in his arm and realized a bullet had hit him.
Baldisomo continued to shoot at the merrymakers, who panicked and ran.
Salvador, who was looking on the whole time, supplied Baldisomo with ammunition when he ran out of bullets.
Dela Cruz tried to wrestle the gun away from Baldisomo, who overpowered him and shot him in the back. – Sandy Araneta
