Dugo-Dugo gang man faces estafa raps

Police filed estafa charges against an alleged member of the notorious Dugo-Dugo gang yesterday after he almost robbed a Department of Justice (DOJ) employee of P.5 million worth of jewelry last Friday.

The suspect, identified as Marjoe Marabe, 28, was collared in an entrapment operation after his plan to dupe Myrna Dy, 48, of Bacoor, Cavite, took a different twist.

Dy’s household helper, Anamie Biboso, 18, said Marabe called up her employer’s house and told her that Dy got into a vehicular accident. The suspect instructed Biboso to destroy a cabinet where Dy keeps her jewelry and bring the valuables to Baclaran.

However, when Biboso went to Baclaran, she bumped into Dy, who asked her why she was carrying her bag and where was she going with it. They then asked the Parañaque police for assistance.

The police allowed Biboso to meet with the suspect, who was arrested after he received the jewelry.

Parañaque police chief Superintendent Ronald Estilles said two more complainants have identified Marabe as the same person who victimized them.

He identified them as Christine Dante and Naty Rama, both of Imus, Cavite, who each lost P.5 million worth of valuables each. – Michael Punongbayan
