Taguig prosecutor junks raps vs Borgy Manotoc
The Taguig prosecutor’s office has dismissed a case of serious physical injuries lodged by the grandson of a former social welfare secretary against ramp and commercial model Borgy Manotoc.
Taguig Assistant Prosecutor Ricardo Estrabo dismissed the case, saying Carlo Pardo de Tavera Brown failed to present witnesses and evidence to prove that Manotoc beat him up in front of the Embassy Bar on
Estrabo also noted that the medical certificate presented by Brown did not show that he sustained serious wounds, contrary to the statement he made.
Manotoc’s lawyer, Abraham Espejo, said they were actually expecting that the resolution will be in their favor since they were able to present at least five witnesses who stated that his client was not the one who hurt Brown, the grandson of former social welfare secretary Mita Pardo de Tavera.
Brown’s lawyer, Hermino Banico, said they will file an appeal. He said the case just dragged on at the prosecutor’s office for a year only for it to be dismissed.
In his complaint, Brown alleged Manotoc, the son of former Ilocos Norte congresswoman Imee Marcos, and a companion attacked him at the parking area of the Embassy Bar in Taguig.
Manotoc denied the accusations, claiming that Brown started mocking him, which led to a fight.
