- Perseus Echeminada -

Eleven more public health centers in Quezon City have been awarded the “Sentrong Sigla” certification for quality service from the Department of Health (DOH).

The DOH had now cited 25 Quezon City health facilities for their excellent service.

Sentrong Sigla basic certifications are only issued to health facilities that have met the quality standards of the health department for health services.

The certifications were issued by Director Asuncion Anden of the DOH Center for Health Development for Metro Manila.

Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. said these certifications are the best recognition of the Quezon City government’s efforts to improve health facilities and services in the city.

The 11 latest Sentrong Sigla –certified centers and their heads are in barangays Bagong Pag-asa, Masambong, Silangan, Batasan Hills Annex, Veterans/Holy Spirit, E. Rodriguez, Cubao, Pinyahan, Roxas, and Tatalon.

Anden, who represented Health Secretary Francisco Duque, handed the certificates to the heads of the health at the Sentrong Sigla awards ceremonies at QC Hall. During the ceremonies, Anden also awarded DOH plaques of recognition to Mayor Belmonte, city health department head Dr. Antonieta Inumerable and city head nurse Dr. Cresencia Manlangit for their efforts to improve the delivery of health services to residents in Quezon City.

There are now 60 health centers in Quezon City, including the 39 centers with newly constructed building.

The three latest addition to the centers are the Lupang Pangako Health Center in Barangay Payatas B, Betty Go Belmonte Super Health Center in Barangay Holy Spirit and the Paltok Health Center in Barangay Paltok.

Those classified as super health centers in Quezon City operate like mini-hospitals.

These big centers maintain 24-hour operations and are able to attend to emergency cases.
