P.1-M offered for baby-killer’s arrest

Muntinlupa City Mayor Aldrin San Pedro is offering P100,000 as reward for the immediate arrest of the man who stabbed his live-in partner’s two-year-old daughter in Barangay Poblacion last Jan. 2.

“I condemn in the strongest words the stabbing and killing of baby Rosvie Irish Verdeflor. This senseless and gruesome murder is unimaginable,” he said.

According to the Muntinlupa police’s Women and Children Protection Center, the stabbing occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 2.

Rosvie’s mother, who requested anonymity, said she and her jobless live-in partner, Randy de Claro, 25, were having a heated argument on the night of Jan. 2. She said the argument prompted her sister – Rosvie’s aunt – to bring the child to her own house.

After a few minutes, De Claro, who was drunk at the time, arrived at Rosvie’s aunt’s house and brought Rosvie back to the house he and Rosvie’s mother were renting on Quezon street in Pulong Silangan. Rosvie’s mother chose to stay at her sister’s house.

Rosvie’s aunt decided to check on her niece, and found the girl had been stabbed repeatedly. She rushed Rosvie to the Babaran-Echavez clinic but the child was declared dead on arrival at about 9 p.m. Rosvie suffered five stab wounds, including three in the head.

“I appeal to the public to report to the authorities the whereabouts of Randy de Claro so he can be arrested immediately,” San Pedro said. – Rhodina Villanueva
