Former President Joseph Estrada aired his support yesterday for Guia Gomez’s plan to run for mayor of San Juan City by 2010.
In a telephone interview with The STAR, Estrada said he is confident that there will be no conflict within the Estrada family should Gomez – the mother of one of his son, incumbent San Juan Mayor Joseph Victor Ejercito – decides to run for mayor of San Juan.
Gomez confirmed her bid during a celebration in honor of Ejercito, who was chosen as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) by Malacañang.
“I don’t think that this family would be divided like what is happening with other families because of politics,” she said.
Estrada said Gomez has the intelligence and talent to be a mayor of San Juan.
“If there will be no other who will run, why not? Besides she has all the ability to be a mayor of San Juan. Let us see. I call the shots in the family especially when it comes to politics,” he said. — Jose Rodel Clapano
