The Office of the Ombudsman will lead at least a thousand members of the media, youth, business, civil society groups and participating government agencies in the first-ever “Rally for Integrity” as part of the campaign to involve the public in the drive against graft and corruption.
Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez will lead participants in the rally composed of members of the Multi-Sectoral Anti-Corruption Council (MSACC), which she chairs.
The group will meet at 6:30 a.m. at the Quezon City Memorial Circle (QCMC) Bike Path and will march to the University of the Philippines (UP) Bahay ng Alumni in UP Diliman for a short program.
Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. will deliver the welcome remarks, and Sandiganbayan presiding Justice Teresita de Castro will deliver an inspirational message. Gutierrez will deliver the closing message.
The “Rally for Integrity” kicks off a series of similar events for the nationwide “Roadshow” in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao this year. The “Roadshow” is part of the social marketing of the gains and progress made by the different stakeholders in their anti-corruption projects. – Sandy Araneta
