Quezon City policemen killed one of two men who robbed a student in Cubao early yesterday morning.
Quezon City Police District director Senior Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula said that at about 2 a.m. the still unidentified suspect posed as a passenger in a jeepney driven by Felix Pamittan bound for Marikina.
Upon reaching the corner of Aurora Boulevard and Pinatubo street, the suspect robbed April Aguilar, 17, of her cash and cellphone at gunpoint and alighted near Gen. Santos street in Cubao, where his cohort was waiting on a motorcycle.
Aguilar reported the robbery to passing policemen on board their patrol vehicle. The lawmen chased the suspects, who fired on their pursuers and set off a brief running gunbattle.
The suspect who robbed Aguilar was shot dead as his companion escaped.
This incident is the Quezon City police’s third shootout with motorcycle-riding robbers over the past two weeks in Cubao.
Crime scene investigators recovered one .38 caliber handgun with three bullets, three spent shells, a black wallet containing some cash, and Aguilar’s cellphone near the body of the slain suspect.
The unidentified man was described as between 25 to 28 years old, 5’3” to 5’4” in height, and sporting tattoos with the words “ANDING,” “BNG,” “BUBOY SUKA” and “JR.”
Gatdula has a standing order for all station commanders to rid the city of criminals, particularly motorcycle-riding robbers.
