While other local government executives are still busy guarding their votes in canvassing centers, Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. has already called for a staff meeting to plot development plans for the city in the next three years.

During the meeting held at the City Hall, Belmonte  mobilized various city government agencies for a full blast development of the Central Business District in the East and North Triangle areas, which were recently declared by President Arroyo as areas of growth and influence in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The mayor urged city head of offices to submit their proposals and recommendations to get the ball rolling for the development of the 250-hectare property, which Mrs. Arroyo eyed as an area with enormous potential for large-scale development in Metro Manila

Belmonte also directed the Business License and Permit Office (BPLO) and the Building Permit Office to provide 24-hour service to the business community.

In an executive order, Mrs. Arroyo has called for the creation of the Urban Triangle Development Commission that will streamline programs, allocations schemes, land use and other property management arrangements affecting the area as mandated by other proclamations and laws, using as reference  the World Bank Study for the proposed development of a Central Business District in Quezon City.   Perseus Echeminada
