Snatchers caught in Quezon City

An 18-year-old painter moonlighting as a cell phone snatcher along Aurora Boulevard in Cubao, Quezon city was arrested after he snatched the cell phone of an off-duty policeman Thursday night.

Senior Police Officer 1 Roberto Bersal, who was in civilian attire, was waiting for a ride along Aurora Boulevard at 9 p.m. when Eric Ubas, a resident of barangay San Roque in Antipolo City, snatched his cell phone and ran towards Farmer’s Market.

Bersal gave chase and caught Ubas. He then introduced himself as a police officer assigned with the Police Community Precinct at Project 4 in Quezon City.

In a separate incident, policemen from the Baler Police Station 2 also arrested another cell phone snatcher identified as Allene Caesar Francisco.

According to police report the victim Jennethre Himor was walking along Elliptical Road and was using his T-630 Ericsson cell phone when Francisco grabbed it and ran towards the Philippine Coconut Authority building.

A passing police patrol responded when they saw Francisco running away with his loot. - Perseus Echeminada
