The Makati Department of Public Safety has lifted the color coding scheme in the city, starting today and until Monday, April 9.
DPS Director Hermenegildo San Miguel said the lifting of the color coding scheme is in accordance with the observance of the Lenten season and the celebration of the "Araw ng Kagitingan" on Monday, an official holiday.
Meanwhile, the Makati Museum and Cultural Affairs Office is urging residents and guests to join activities slated for the observance of the Lenten break.
The Holy Week celebration in Makati will feature the traditional procession of barefoot women wearing black dresses called "pasos" or barefoot penitents.
The procession will be on Good Friday after the presentation of the Seven Last Words or the "Siete Palabras."
Other activities in Makati include the procession of crucifixes yesterday, a Mass for the Lord’s last supper, washing of the feet and transfer of the Holy Eucharist to the altar, and adoration before the Blessed Sacrament at 5p.m. today.
There will also be chanting of the life of Jesus Christ or "pabasa" inside the "kubols" or little cavalries, from Holy Wednesday until Good Friday.
