6 men rob passenger bus in Malabon

Six armed men robbed a passenger bus along McArthur Highway in Malabon last Wednesday night.

Superintendent Wilfredo Ramos said eight passengers were divested of their cash, cell phones and other belongings, including the bus fare earnings from the bus conductor.

An initial investigation showed that the men boarded at around 10:30 p.m. the Filipinas Trailway Transit bus in Monumento and posed as passengers.

Upon reaching the corner of Del Monte Avenue in Potrero, Malabon, the suspects, who were armed with revolvers and knives announced the holdup. The group alighted shortly after passing the Tullahan Bridge at the Malabon-Valenzuela City highway boundary.

The victims screamed for help as soon as the suspects alighted from the bus and sought the help of elements of the Police Community Precinct 2, headed by Inspector Redentor Tabo.

Tabo sent a police car in a follow-up operation but failed to catch up with the robbers who had commandeered a passing jeepney. – Jerry Botial
