Last Saturday, the Caloocan police filed charges of theft against Luis Asistio Jr. and cohort Orlando Chua for allegedly stealing a differential assembly and I-beam assembly in front of a warehouse on Baltazar Street in Barangay 69.
"None of my relatives, including my son, is above the law," said the elder Asistio, who represents Caloocan’s second district. He had earlier even offered to provide a lawyer to his son’s accusers if they could not afford one.
Police said that at around 3:30 p.m. last Friday, three men using a forklift and an Elf truck stole the truck parts and sold them to a junkshop for P60,000.
Chua was immediately arrested by Robert Lures, a barangay councilman, and barangay tanods with help from witness Carlos Seguerra.
Chua led Lures to the junkshop were they sold the truck parts and pointed to Asistio as one of his two cohorts.
Asistio had been arrested in Pampanga recently along with four others allegedly for a kidnapping attempt and for violating the election gun ban.
