Las Piñas residents to benefit from PGH medical mission

Some 2,000 indigent residents in Las Piñas City will benefit from the medical and surgical mission to be conducted under a program of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), in coordination with the city government.

Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the "Tatak PGH Plus" program, which will initially be conducted in the city, is aimed at providing free check-ups and other medical and surgical services to underprivileged residents.

Tatak PGH Plus is being implemented as part of the centennial celebration of PGH. It will be implemented in Las Piñas for the entire month of August.

"The best and brightest PGH doctors will be at the forefront, not only to provide the necessary medical and surgical services, but also to assist in the transfer of new technology to the city’s district hospital," Aguilar said.

She urged city residents who need to undergo surgery and complete medical check-ups to avail of the services, which will be free of charge.

Tatak PGH Plus was launched last Thursday at the Mayor’s Office, where a memorandum of agreement was signed by UP-PGH director Dr. Mike Alfiler and Dra. Carmen Gervacio, Department of Health assistant regional director.

Las Piñas was recently adjudged as a Department of Health’s "Sentrong Sigla" awardee for having the best health-care facilities and services.
