Man killed after helping robbery victims

A sidewalk vendor was killed after he tried to help two women who fell victim to holdup men last Monday night in Las Piñas City.

Police Officer 3 Rolando Abraham, officer-on-case, identified the fatality as Roberto Padilla, 31, a resident of Guyabano street, Barangay CAA, Las Piñas.

Padilla chased and hurled rocks at the three suspects who held up Bernadette Tungol, 22, a lotto operator, and her younger sister Charmaine. Both are residents of Moonwalk Village, Las Piñas.

The sisters had just closed their lotto outlet on Real street, Talon 2 and were walking toward their vehicle at 9 p.m. when the suspects armed with guns of unknown caliber, declared a holdup.

The suspects took their handbags containing cash, cell phones, credit cards and other valuables.

The victims shouted for help, to which Padilla responded by chasing the fleeing suspects who boarded a red motorcycle going toward the Zapote area.

The suspects then shot Padilla, who was hit in the head. Rhodina Villanueva
