Guard hurt in attack

An off-duty security guard was shot and wounded after several unidentified gunmen sprayed the security force barracks with bullets early yesterday in Valenzuela City.

PO3 Richard Bautista, officer-on-case, identified the victim as Gerardo Zamora, 40, of the San Pablo Detective and Protective Agency.

Zamora sustained gunshot wounds in the left buttock and left leg and is now confined at the Valenzuela General Hospital, where he was taken after the shooting.

Records showed the incident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. as the off-duty Zamora lay sleeping in the security force barracks of a factory warehouse.

An owner-type jeep was seen by witnesses slowing down along Jacinto street in Canumay West, Valenzuela City before its occupants sprayed the barracks with several rounds from guns of unknown make and caliber.

Zamora was hit and taken to the nearest hospital.

The suspects remain unidentified even as police try to establish the motive for the shooting.
