The Quezon City government has cited the Quezon City Association of Filipino-Chinese Businessmen Inc. (QCAFCBI) for its support of various programs and for promoting the city as a major business destination in the country.
Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. presented a plaque of appreciation to a delegation led by the groups president Charles Chen during the flag-raising ceremony at City Hall yesterday.
Other officers present were Bonifacio Lui, executive vice president; William Li, Peter Coliangco and Ben Co, vice presidents; Bobby Chua Ching, secretary; Luis de Jesus, Leoncio Tan and Tommy Tan, directors; and Tony Chua, past president of the organization.
Belmonte, in his brief remarks, said the QCAFCBI, created 17 years ago, has been very supportive of the various programs implemented by the city government.
He said the group has also been active in medical and dental missions, other civic actions and in the implementation of the city governments peace and order campaign.
Councilor Jorge "Bolet" Banal Jr., who introduced the officers of the organization, said the QCAFCBI also played a vital role in a recent trip by Quezon City officials in the Chinese province of Fujian, where they were briefed about the current economic boom in China.
After the awarding ceremonies, students from a public school for special children performed a dance number. The businessmen were visibly impressed by the performance.
The mayor told the Filipino-Chinese businessmen that among the programs being pursued by the city government in coordination with the Department of Education is the setting up of schools for special children.
