Livelihood project for auto detailers, launched in Valenzuela

The Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas and 3M Philippines teamed up to provide job opportunities to unemployed citizens in Valenzuela City.

The Liga and 3M project, dubbed "Detailer at Electrician ng Barangay," was launched at the Dalandanan National High School in Valenzuela City earlier this month to teach auto detailing and electrical skills to the unemployed so that they could become productive citizens.

Liga ng mga Barangay president James Marty Lim said the project is part of 3M’s corporate social responsibility program. Liga and 3M Philippines also agreed to collaborate on other livelihood projects for the unemployed.

"The barangay’s aim is to empower its constituents and to transform each individual into self-supporting and independent citizens," Lim said.

Vez Arboleda, 3M corporate marketing and public affairs senior manager, said, "3M is proud to partner with the barangays because this enables us to help Filipino communities directly."

3M gave away starter-kits containing tools and materials to electricians and car detailers as part of the project.
