A 10-man patrol team of Taguig Security Force (TSF) received commendations yesterday for their rescue of an American national during a recent vehicular accident inside the Fort Bonifacio business district.
City Mayor Freddie Tinga personally awarded the TSF operatives, led by Arthuro Ramira Jr., for the "professionalism and dedication" they showed in rescuing American Doyle Stout.
Members of the TSF patrol team were Elsa Ruaza, Jorge Dacara, Jorge Hidalgo, Sabina Dasal, Tiopilo Ongsoto, Leon Rivera, Christopher Mariano, Happy Mariano, and George Sumulong.
It was Stout who personally asked the mayor to give commendations to the TSF members, whom he called "Good Samaritans" for saving his life.
In a letter to Tinga, Doyle said the rescue team deserved the award for their "exceptional effort, caring and exemplary conduct" in assisting him following the vehicular accident.
Stout, a resident of Valle Verde in Pasig City, was driving home from a disco when a car sideswiped his vehicle, sending it crashing toward the center island last April 29. He sustained head injuries.
The TSF patrolling team saw the car and immediately came to the victims aid.
Stout recalled that apart from ensuring his safety, the responding rescue team even called members of his family and arranged for a vehicle to tow the car.
He added that they were also instrumental in assisting him in filing for the police report and providing other documentation needed for the insurance claim.
"I am impressed and most thankful to the group and I would like to inform you of their level of professionalism and the willingness to help a stranger in trouble and possible danger," Stout told the mayor.
Tinga created the TSF to augment the police in conducting patrol operations, and enforce an ordinance on a curfew for minors in the city.
