Car theft suspects nabbed in QC

An alert mobile patrol of the Central Police District (CPD) in Quezon City rounded up yesterday five suspected car thieves who were about strike near the Sulo Hotel along Matalino corner Malakas streets early yesterday.

According to a police report submitted to Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr., the suspects were on board a red Toyota Corolla with plate number TBP 411 parked near the hotel apparently scouting for a victim when spotted by CPD Mobile Patrol 49 which was conducting a routine patrol in the area.

The crew of the mobile patrol conducted a routine check on the occupants of the suspicious vehicle and found out that the suspects were in possession of bent screw drivers and several keys of vehicles, considered standard paraphernalia used by carjackers.

The police report identified the suspects as Boy Pagdanganan, 26; Arman Padilla, 30; Carliton Torres 37; Antonio Garcia, 36; and Arthur Carlos.

The suspects were brought to the Central Police district traffic command for further investigation.

The arrest at the suspected car thieves came after CPD director Chief Superintendent Nicasio Radovan reported the 90-percent recovery rate of stolen vehicles in Quezon City. The CPD has launched an intensified its mobile and beat patrol in carjacking prone areas.
