Malabon murder suspect arrested

-
After almost seven months in hiding, a suspect in the murder of a laborer last January in Malabon City was arrested by the police on Friday.

Chief Inspector Jimili Macaraeg, Northern-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief, identified the suspect as Anastacio Bautista, 29, alias Asyong, of Phase 6, Letre Road, Barangay Tunsuya.

Bautista was one of the four suspects who mauled and shot to death one Benedicto Olberia last Jan. 1.

Bautista was nabbed at his residence at around 7:30 p.m. by the Northern-CIDG operatives led by Senior Inspectors Nestorio Aguila and Francis Gordon by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Malabon City Judge Benjamin Antonio.

The three other suspects, identified as Mariano Lumbao, Danilo Macapagal and one alias Doming, are now subjects of a police manhunt.

Meanwhile, in Navotas, a security guard, identified as Marcelino Rosales, 26, was gunned down by an unidentified suspect while manning his post at around 3 a.m. yesterday.

SPO3 Milo Tengson said the victim was a security guard of Linton Commercial Corp. in Barangay San Rafael.

Rosales was rushed to the Tondo Medical Center but he died along the way. — Pete Laude
