Fatal encounter
June 15, 2004 | 12:00am
An old grudge led to the fatal shooting of a homeowners association president in Barangay Kapitolyo, Pasig City over the weekend.
The victim, Juanito Cabiso, 48, a businessman and resident of 50-4 San Juan street in Barangay Kapitolyo, sustained two gunshot wounds in the neck and stomach.
He died while being rushed to the Medical Center Hospital in Mandaluyong City.
The gunman, Alberto Valenzona, 58, businessman and neighbor of the victim, escaped after the incident and is now being hunted by the police.
Police said Cabiso and Valenzona ran against each other in the last homeowners association elections. Cabiso won by a large margin. Valenzona later put up a separate homeowners association and installed himself as president.
The two associations have each been collecting dues from the homeowners, causing further friction between Cabiso and Valenzona.
At around 6:30 a.m. last Sunday, Cabiso and Valenzona accidentally met at the main gate of Barangay Kapitolyo. A heated argument ensued.
A security guard said Cabiso was armed with a knife while Valenzona was carrying a handgun.
Police said Valenzona fired twice at Cabiso before fleeing on board his yellow car. Non Alquitran
