The victim was identified as Richard Avila, of 8 Inocencio street, Barangay Tugatog, Malabon City. Avila expired while on the way to the Manila Central University (MCU) Hospital due to a stab wound in the chest.
Probers recovered a license plate (TKU-591) from the scene of the crime, apparently left behind by the suspect.
Initial investigation showed the incident occurred at around 4:20 a.m. along Gen. San Miguel street, Sangandaan, Caloocan City.
PO2 Michael Viray said that prior to the stabbing, the victim had just alighted from a passenger jeepney with friends Johnny Ilagan, a "Joel" and a "Rochel" when another jeepney following them nudged Avila. Avila resented this perceived recklessness and confronted the unnamed driver. A shouting match ensued and soon after, the suspect whipped out a knife and stabbed the complaining Avila. The suspects then revved up and sped away in his jeepney in a bid to escape. He remains at large. Jerry Botial
