The Central Police District (CPD) in Quezon City won six major individual and unit awards, including the much coveted District of the Year award, during the 13th founding anniversary of the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) last Saturday.
It was a double whammy for the CPD as it was also named Police District of the Year during the Philippine National Police (PNP) anniversary celebration in Camp Crame last Jan. 29.
The twin feats earned for CPD director Chief Superintendent Napoleon Castro Jr. a six-month extension reward from President Arroyo herself.
Other CPD awardees include: PO1 Quirico Britanico (Medalya ng Kagalingan), former Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) chief and now NCRPO personnel chief Superintendent Raul Medina (Senior Police Commissioned Officer of the Year), Angelita Garcia (Non-Uniformed Personnel award), CPD Special Weapons and Tactics (District SWAT of the Year) and CPD District Mobile Group (District Mobile Group of the Year).
NCRPO chief Director Ricardo de Leon also awarded the Medalya ng Kasanayan to Senior Superintendents Felipe Rojas Jr., and Erasto Sanchez, chiefs of police of Marikina and Muntinlupa, respectively.
The Marikina City police force was adjudged as the Police Station of the Year, besting 36 other police stations in Metro Manila.
Meanwhile, the Western Police District (WPD) garnered three awards Policewoman of the Year for SPO2 Sesima Sisma, Anti-Carnapping Unit of the Year for WPD-ANCAR, and Women and Childrens Desk of the Year for its Women and Childrens desk.
Chief Inspector Sotero Ramos, district police intelligence unit chief of the Northern Police District (NPD), on the other hand, was named Junior Police Commissioned Officer.
