Suspect dies from anxiety

A suspect in a robbery-holdup case died after complaining of stomach pains while under interrogation the other day at a police station of the Central Police District (CPD).

According to investigators at the CPD-Criminal Investigation Unit, Amado Yancha, 36, of 37 Miami street, Barangay Socorro, was invited for questioning about 4 p.m. at CPD-Station 7 in Cubao last Friday after he was tagged in a theft case.

During the course of interrogation, Yancha suddenly complained of severe stomach pains, prompting policemen to bring him to the hospital for treatment.

He reached the Quirino Memorial Medical Center 10 minutes later, but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Police said the victim could have experienced severe tension during the inquiry, causing stomach pains.

Police turned over the body to the PNP Crime Laboratory for autopsy to determine the real cause of death. – Katherine Adraneda
