Biggest trade fair set for Quezon City Day

Preparations are now underway for the biggest gathering of entrepreneurs and business organizations during the celebration of Quezon City’s 64th founding anniversary on Oct. 12.

Nathan Zulueta, president of the Quezon City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCCI) said that trade fairs and exhibits will be mounted to showcase the city’s products and services as well as its business friendly investment program.

The theme for the gathering is "One Global Filipino."

The QCCCI Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) trade center will also be opened on this day and the Quezon City registry databank will be activated, he added.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), QCCCI’s mother organization, will be hosting the largest Philippine business conference at the Manila Hotel on the last week of November as a follow-up activity.

Zulueta hailed President Arroyo for declaring 2003 as the Year of Chamber Movement. Incidentally, chamber movement in the country is also celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

According to Zulueta, the significant role of various local chambers in promoting volunteerism in business community for economic growth was first recognized in 1978 through Proclamation 780.

The QCCCI is now the leading local chamber after it was adjudged the Most Outstanding Chamber in the country this year.

Zulueta said the local government, particularly the Quezon City government under the stewardship of Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr., is QCCCI’s partner in promoting SME development programs, the Micro Business Enterprise Act (MBEA) of 2002 and other poverty alleviation programs.

Zulueta has earlier cited the Quezon City government as the first local government unit to implement the law.
